Creative Director of Squeaky Floor Productions, Lara is a graduate of the Postgraduate Directing program at the Victorian College of the Arts (VCA), and a graduate from UNSW majoring in Theatre Performance Studies & French. Lara is the 2016 recipient of the Besen Director position at Malthouse Theatre.
Directing credits include Falling Petals, The Removalists, Il Signor Bruschino (Lyric Opera of Melbourne), Echo in our Walls (Outback Theatre for Young People), Fewer Emergencies, Sprout: A Radio Play, Tiger Country (Little Spoon Co.), Still, Pigeon, Sugar (Tamarama Rock Surfers’ Bondi Feast Festival), The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, The Importance of Being Ernest, The Gipsy Dancer, A Squeaky Cabaret, Wolf Lullaby, SLAM, Cabaret, Bombshells.
Lara has assistant directed on various productions over the years. Credits include Edward II (dir.Matt Lutton, Malthouse Theatre),Women of Troy, The Seagull, Roadkill, and Richard III (Siren Theatre Co.) As a dramaturg she has worked on such productions as Salt (She Said Theatre), Pigeon and SPROUT by Jessica Bellamy and Freddie & Eden (Harvey House Productions). Lara has participated as a dramaturg intern with Playwriting Australia, and on 2015 MTC’s Cybec Electric season.
With over fifteen years experience in the Arts, Lara founded Squeaky Floor Productions in 2008 in order to promote fresh, contemporary and new Australian works while providing an artistic space for artists to create and collaborate work without limitation.
